This was Smoke Me Tenders BBQ second year at the GAB. We are no longer rookies. Boy have we learned so much in the past year. We enjoyed the team party we had on Friday night. We had so many family and friends, it was hard to count how many we had at the party. No heavy rain this year. We can't wait until next year.
The Great American Barbecue is currently the 4th largest bbq competition in the U.S. It has attracted more than 200 entries ever since it started just a few years ago. This also makes it one of the most prestigious competitions, somewhere in the top 10. (Kansas City BBQ Society www.kcbs.us)
If only the ribs would have done better, they would have moved up quite a bit in the overall rankings. I think this is great for an amateur team; this is about the 10th competition they have entered.
