Smoke Me Tender competed in the Racing for the BBQ contest, at Kansas City International Raceway. This new competition drew over 30 teams. The roar of drag racers provided background music for the cooks. New racing friends were made this weekend, along with our first experience at being at the races.
After the judging was complete, the Smoke Me Tender team was delighted to place 4th overall. This was our highest overall ranking this year. Winning second place for brisket marks a new team milestone. Ribs placed firth, which was also a season high for us. Chicken placed 11th with .0044 behind the 10th placed team. Boy was that close.
The next event for Smoke Me Tender will be Cross Points Cookoff in Shawnee, Kansas. In September, we head to the Jesse James BBQ cooko in Kearney, MO where the team will defend last year's Grand Championship from this contest.
