About the Team
Smoke Me Tender BBQ team was founded in 2006 by Gary & Tammye. After taking up the barbecue hobby, the delicious results caused friends and family to encourage them to take their game to the next level. They competed against 250 teams in the Great American Barbecue their very first time out. While they didn't place, they were ranked in the top third of all the teams, a respectable showing for any team and quite remarkable for rookies. This success encouraged them to keep trying, keep learning, and to invest in the best equipment possible. Their investment is starting to pay off!
Gary and Tammye are also sanctioned barbecue judges and their judging credentials include the American Royal Barbecue, one of the largest and most prestigious barbecue contests in the U.S.

Gary - oh we mean Elvis. Gary loves great BBQ and is the backbone of the team. Gary can't wait until the next competition and enjoys having family and friends out to our events.

Aaron - Son Enjoys the competition and specializes in pork. Aaron loves the technical aspect of competition. Aaron is married and has two sons. nAaron's son Nice is walking in his father's foot steps. Aaron helps Nick at the kids que at the Great American BBQ.

Rodney is a long time family friend that enjoys competing especially when his brother Dan is in the same contest. Rod brings everything including the kitchen sink!

Amanda - Aaron's wife and Nick's mother. Amanda is coming out to the contests more and more. Amanda is preparing the chicken box for Raytown 2009.
